Who We Are

William McCauley, WMCI's founder and president, has over 15 years of service in public accounting, of which 10 years were in "Big 4" public accounting firms.  His experience has mostly been in providing a variety of tax services for a broad level of clients.  His career began in providing tax compliance services and tax consulting services (along with bookkeeping) to high-net worth individual clients and their closely held businesses, with net incomes up to $100M.

As public accounting became more regulated after the fall of Enron and Arthur Andersen after the turn of the century, William's experience in Corporate Accounting for Income Taxes drew him into auditing and preparing complex income tax provision computations for both private and public enterprises.  His industry focus was primarily on technology companies and included mostly pre-IPO "start-up's".  Most of these start-ups didn't have their own tax departments or Tax Directors, so William quickly became a trusted advisor to those start-up companies.  The companies William worked with in this part of his career ranged in revenues from $50M to over $2B, annually.

William left public accounting at the Director level and developed WMCI in the hope of not only providing high quality service to both individuals and businesses, but also to become a trusted component to their business or financial endeavors.  Think of William as a part-time Tax Director or CFO that will take the time to not only understand your business or tax situations, but also will work with you in helping you understand tax solutions and their particular business outcomes.  All this comes to you at a fraction of the cost of what a larger firm may attempt to provide you, at possibly a lower level of interaction and personal attention that William can provide.

William is a California Certified Public Accountant ("CPA"), is a member of the American Institute of Public Accountants ("AICPA") and is a member of the California Society of Certified Public Accountants ("CalCPA").  William has previously developed and conducted numerous trainings to not only public accounting professionals, but also to controllers, CFO's, tax directors and VP's of Tax.

Outside of his career in taxation, William enjoys running, hiking/backpacking, golfing and creating magic on the grill.
